Oil Tanker Fleet Speed Tracking

The problem

An oil company with 150+ tankers needed to track driver performance and enforce speed limit adherence based on geofencing — different limits for roads vs restricted patches along routes.

What we built

Programmed Raspberry Pi devices installed in each tanker to upload coordinates and speed data to Speed Gauge and Samsara APIs every 5 seconds. All data gathered and presented in a management dashboard.

Results

• 150+ tankers monitored in real-time
• Safety protocols enforced via geofencing
• Driver bonus/penalty system enabled by data
• Road-specific and patch-specific speed limit enforcement
